THEY WANT YOU!

When you think about super-hummable pop tunes, you don't usually think of Australia. But the land down under is the home of Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones, the two way hot guys in SAVAGE GARDEN. Daniel, who's 24, and Darren, 25, hooked up four years ago in Brisbane, where both were playing in cover bands. The pair became friends and started writing music together. Less than a year ago, they decided, according to Darren, to "just make a record." And they did!

The dynamic duo were totally surprised when their first single, "I Want You," flew up the charts and their debut album has also been a "savage" success. But Darren (who handles lead singing chores) and Daniel (he plays keyboards) aren't letting their new found fame fly to their heads. "We expected the song to do well, but expecting it and having it are two different things," says Darren. "I know every person has some magic in their lives, and this is our magic."

Now about the name---Darren happens to be a huge fan of writer Anne Rice, and the name came from one of her most famous novels, Interview With The Vampire. "Vampires call their world a savage garden," Darren explains. "Their world is beautiful, but underneath it's primitive and savage."
